The moraine, flowing Karasai Lake is located at an altitude of 3413 meters above sea level in the upper reaches of the eastern tributary of the Karasai River, is located in a narrow gorge elongated from south to north on the southern slopes of the Dzhungar Alatau ridge in the Eskeldin district of the Almaty region.
Lake Karasai is located in the northern part of the gorge. The area of the lake is 58633 square meters, the perimeter of the lake is 977 meters. The length of the lake from south to north is 395 meters, the largest width in the central part of the lake is 177 meters.
00 meters to the northeast, in the crest of the Dzungarian Alatau ridge, there is an unnamed peak 3835.6 meters above sea level. A small glacier with an area of 348,999 square meters is located 900 meters west of Lake Karasai.
The perimeter of the glacier is 2387 meters. The glacier is located in an intermediate basin between the western, northern and southern slopes of the Dzungarian Alatau ridge. 1.1 kilometers to the south-west is a moraine, flowing lake Lower Karasai, located at an altitude of 3277 meters above sea level.
Lake Lower Karasai has an area of 13151 square meters, a perimeter of 530 meters. The length of the lake from southeast to northwest is 195 meters, the width in the northern part of the lake is 110 meters. From the north, a wide delta of up to 40 meters flows into the lake, the East Karasai River.
