Tours on settlements of early iron of Almaty region.
The Maly Koytas tract of the Usek river valley is located on the southern slope of the Toksanbay ridge in the Panfilovsky district of the Almaty region, 40 - 45 km north of the city of Zharkent. Here, next to petroglyphs, there are burial grounds of the Early Iron Age.
The formation of the Small Koytas sanctuary with petroglyphs is due to the long-term residence of nomads in this territory in the early Iron Age. In addition to a large number of mounds on the lower flood-plain terrace in the valleys of the Small and Middle Usek, large burial grounds were identified on the edge of the upper flood-plain terrace formed by the ancient glacier.
On the left bank of the Middle Usek river, and it was found that next to the largest mounds on the east side, or stela or large stones with images of deer, goats, argali were found at the eastern edge of the rectangular-shaped calculations.
Some of them are made in the "animal" style, which allows us to consider them in combination with fences and barrows. Mounds with petroglyphs are also found in the upper reaches of the Middle Usek. A survey of the southern spurs of the Dzungaria showed that this region was densely populated during the Early Iron Age.
