Lake Bivachnoye on moraine of Kyzyl-Asker glacier.

Moraine lakes in valley of Eastern Aksai River.

“Judging by the outline of the mountains, it was clear that the Tien Shan here forms an arc, as is actually observed in the Aksai Tien Shan. Already at the very top of our ascent, we began to come across enormous boulders, also worn, polished, of various shapes; some inclined, others folded, all light in color. Some of them were colossal in size; one might have thought that these were not boulders, but rocks lying in place, if they had not been lying freely on a grassy slope and were not far from any bedrock.”
