Asy-Turgen observatory.

Diaspora tourism in Kazakhstan.

“In nature we never see anything isolated, but everything in connection with something else which is before it, beside it, under it and over I”

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

Equine tourism in Kazakhstan.

Asy-Turgen observatory is located at an altitude of 2678.2 meters above sea level on the Asy plateau, located in the eastern part of the Zailiyskiy Alatau between the Sary Tau ridges in the south and the Karash ridge to the north, 1.7 kilometers southwest of the Asy pass with a height of 2510 meters above sea level, 37.5 kilometers southeast of the village of Issyk in the Enbekshikazakh district of the Almaty region.
The observatory is the observation base of the Astrophysical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan. The Asy plateau stretches from west to east for more than 50 kilometers, in the valley of the Asy river, in the Zailiyskiy Alatau ridge in the mountains of the Northern Tien Shan.
Since 1975, the observatory has been intensively developed by the Astrophysical Institute. The observatory has a 1-meter telescope (reflector). Work has been underway since 1987 on the construction of a 1.5-meter telescope (reflector) AZT - 20.
This place for the construction of the observatory was proposed by Konstantin Matveyevich Salamakhin. Construction began in 1975, due to the large illumination at the observatory on the Kamenskoe plateau. Continuous observations began in 1981 at the meter Zeiss.
At the end of the 80s of the twentieth century, it was planned to install a 1.5-m AZT-20 reflector. The dome and the building of the observatory were installed, further funding was not enough - the collapse of the USSR prevented.
By 1991, two telescope towers, a hotel block were erected and a meter-long telescope was put into operation. Since the beginning of the 90s, the construction of the 1.5-m telescope has been frozen. The observatory is not supplied with electricity.
Asy-Turgen is the only observatory in Kazakhstan with an ideal microclimate.
Geographic coordinates of the Asy-Turgen observatory: N43 ° 13'34.49 "E77 ° 52'19.07".
