Monuments of the history of Atyrau region.

Akmechet necropolis is located on a small chalk hill at an altitude of 23 meters above sea level, is 188 meters from left bank of Emba (Zhem) River, 6.7 kilometers to east and slightly north of underground mosque of Kulzhan Akmechet, 29.6 kilometers to east and slightly north of village of Akkiztogay, rural district of same name, 60.4 kilometers to northeast of city of Kulsary, in Zhylyoi district of Atyrau region. 
In addition to the underground mosque in the Akmechet ensemble, there is a necropolis consisting of 32 kulpytases, 2 koytases, 2 domed mausoleums and one saganatam. 13 kulpytases have architectural, decorative and historical-ethnographic significance.
Akmechet is a popular place, pilgrims come here not only out of idle curiosity, but also because they want to visit holy places. Here are the monuments of kulpytas №1, №3, №5, №7, №8, №9, №10, №12, №14, №15, №16, №26,33. In the vicinity of Akmechet there are ancient burials that are more than five centuries old.
