The Ory river in the Aktobe region of Kazakhstan and the Orenburg region of Russia, the left tributary of the Urals. The length is 332 km, the basin area is 18.6 thousand square kilometers. Formed at the confluence of the Shiyli and Terisbutak rivers, originating on the western slopes of Mugodzhar.
The Ory river is a chain of channel lakes with a length of up to 20 km, a width of 50 m and a depth of 2 m. The lakes are connected by narrow channels with a width of 5 to 8 m and a depth of 0.8 m. The flow velocity is 0.1 m / s .
The bottom is sandy. On the channels there are fords with a depth of 0.1 - 0.5 m. The banks of the river are low, gentle, sometimes steep. The floodplain is open, 0.5 - 0.1 km wide, in some areas it is covered with sandy deposits.
The river freezes in the second half of November, opens in late March - early April, ice thickness reaches 0.5 - 0.7 m by the end of winter. High water in April - early May, water rises above the average level by 1.5 - 2 m. The water is fresh, but in the summer it becomes brackish.
Reservoirs with earthen dams were built on the river.
