Kok-Zhailau valleyt (Kazakh: "Green Pasture") is located at an altitude of 1617 to 2240 meters above sea level, is located in left (eastern) part of Malya Almatinska Gorge, on northern slope of Zailiysky Alatau ridge in Medeu district of Almaty. 
There are two most popular routes to the Kok-Zhailau valley, one route to the Kok-Zhailau tract starts from the Prosveshchenets sanatorium, which is located in the Maloalmatinskoye Gorge. The second route is longer, starts from the Bolshoy Almaty Gorge from the mouth of the Kazakh River.
The path from the former Prosveshchenets holiday home, which is located at an altitude of 1600 meters above sea level to the Kok-Zhailau valley takes about 2 or 2 hours. The Kok-Zhailau pass is located at an altitude of 2150 meters above sea level, from here there is a magnificent view to the west on the vast expanses of the Kok-Zhailau valley.
In the south on the forward elevation in front of the Kumbel peak there are three rocks called Three Brothers 2900 meters above sea level, to the east of them rises the Kumbel peak. The dominant rocks Three Brothers are located in the Kumbel tau ridge. "Kum" (translated from Kazakh - sand, "bel" - back.
Three rocks Three Brothers are located at an altitude of 2860 meters above sea level. From the Kok-Zhailyu pass to the west stretches the Kok-Zhailyau plateau, along which a path winds leading to the gorge of the Kazakh River. Which leads to the GES-2 in the Bolshoe Almatinskoe gorge.
At the beginning of the Kok-Zhailyau plateau, on the left side, there are two small tables where you can have a snack. The main part of the Kok-Zhailyau plateau is located at an altitude of 2200 meters above sea level. The distance from the Prosveshchenets rest house to the Kok-Zhailyau pass is 4400 meters.
