Tours on historical monuments of Kokand.

«Memory is the treasure house of the mind wherein the monuments thereof are kept and preserved»

Sights of Kokand.

In the territory of Kokand there is a set of architectural monuments, among them there is the well-known tomb Damai Shakhon. In this tomb all governors of Kokand are based. Its construction was begun in 1825, at the time of Umarkhan's government.
The ensemble includes the dome room with the portal, the mosque-ayvan with two columns and the family cemetery. The tomb Damai Shakhon is surrounded with a fence, in its center a number of tombs and burials including a marble slab over Umarkhan's grave is grouped.
The facade of the mausoleum of Umarkhan is very picturesque. Entrance doors of a tomb are decorated with woodcarving with excerpts from the Koran in the Arab language and samples of poetry of Umarkhan. Strict forms of the mausoleum and its stocky dome give to a tomb of khans severe character.
The richness of the ornamental motives and a variety applied facing the technician emphasize beauty of a tomb. Beauty of a decor is supplemented by two carved doors - one in the portal, the second - at an entrance to the mosque.
