Aktyuz pass is located at an altitude of 4400 meters above sea level, located on northern slope in Trans-Ili Alatau mountains, on territory of Almaty Nature Reserve, in Talgar district in Almaty region. Located in the upper reaches of the Middle Talgar gorge between the Aktau peaks 4564 meters above sea level in the west and Talgar peak 4978, 9 meters above sea level in the east.
The Aktyuz Pass lies in the northernmost mountain spur of the Talgar massif, stretching from northeast to southwest. The path to the Korzhenevsky glacier, which is located south of the Aktyuz Pass, passes through the Aktyuz Pass. The pass has category 3 difficulty for mountain tourists according to the classification of passes.
