The Asan-Kozha necropolis is located 400 meters from the right (eastern) bank of the Zhem (Emba) river, between the Ayshylykuduk and Zhangyldytogai tracts, 43.5 kilometers southwest of the Oymauyt village and 23.1 kilometers southeast of the village Miyaly in the Bayganinsky district in the south-west of the Aktobe region
The necropolis Asan-kozha is a complex of historical and architectural monuments of the XIXth - early XXth centuries, one of the largest Kazakh cult-burial structures (264 objects). The necropolis of Asan-Kozha, created in the new tendencies of the Kazakh memorial glyptics of the second half of the XIXth - early XXth centuries.
The monumental structures are represented by a group of saganatams, which are characterized by compositional unity and magnificent decor. Most of the monuments are kulpytas with koitases and kulpytas with fences (stone and adobe).
There are both archaic types of gravestones and steles, as well as new ones, with a clear volumetric division and fine carving. But, despite their attractiveness, they are of the same type. This new trend in the art of stone cutting emerged at the beginning of the twentieth century in connection with the increased demand for artistic tombstones.
The "industrial" approach to their creation often gave rise to a stencil appearance. Nevertheless, the originality of the stone-cut monuments makes it possible to distinguish two schools of stone-carving architects at Asan-kozha: the middle of the XIXth century and the end of the XIXth - early XXth centuries.
The dimensions of the necropolis are 250 × 210 meters. The complex consists of a mausoleum built of chalk limestone, saganatams - from sawn blocks, a fence made of limestone and mud bricks. Among the saganatams, two monuments of the early XX century stand out, in which a complex composition and decor are harmoniously linked with a cult purpose.
A large group is made up of gravestones (kulpytases) with natural stones (koitases) and texts written in Arabic script. The structures of the necropolis are characterized by a complex carving technique (filing, teska, volumetric elaboration of details). The decor was usually painted.
