Lipkin Rocks are located on the northern slope of the Lenin Peak massif in the Zaalaysky Range, northeast of the top of Lenin Peak in the Alai District, Osh Region of Kyrgyzstan.
“Something dark is sticking out from under the snow. No, this is not a stone. Come closer. A wooden beam, under it, half covered with snow, two galvanized tanks - the remains of an airplane. ... 1937. The best climbers of the country gathered in the Pamirs in order to conquer the three highest peaks of the Motherland in honor of the XXth anniversary of the Soviet state.
A link to the aircraft under the command of test pilot Mikhail Alekseevich Lipkin was allocated to help climbers. Over the mark "5200", making a circle, the plane passed over the climbers' heads, and a few meters from the athletes the bales of cargo intended for them fell. It was reported on the radio that the plane would come again.
Again the roar of the red star bird. But at that moment, when the plane flew past the slope, suddenly an ice block broke off, and a large fragment of ice damaged the propeller. He is out of order. Lipkin, however, managed to land the car on a snow patch, next to the amazed climbers.
The next day, Lipkin and his companion safely descended, and the massif, on top of which the plane landed, has since become known as Lipkin’s rock.”
