The Ak kala settlement (Kunya-Urgenchskaya) is located on the territory of the historical and cultural museum-reserve "Old Urgench", on the right (eastern) bank of the Daryalyk channel (the old channel of the Amu Darya), 3.2 kilometers south and slightly east of the city of Kunya- Urgench, 30.3 kilometers southeast of the village named after Saparmurat Turkmenbashi in the Kunyaurgench etrap of the Dashoguz velayat.
Ak kala fortress. erected on the ruins of the city of the Golden Horde destroyed by Timur. Remains of walls more than a kilometer long, semicircular towers and gateways made of small adobe bricks have survived.
The loophole system was undoubtedly designed for the use of firearms. It is very likely that Ak Kala, adjacent to the wall of Tash Kala, was a fortified residence of the Uzbek khans of Khorezm of the 16th - 17th centuries. An archaeological study of the fortress was not carried out.
