Almaty house-building plant.

Excursion walks around Almaty.

“If you want to do more, don’t do worse.”

Kyrgyz proverb.

Construction of residential buildings in Almaty.

The house-building plant, Alma-Ata Order of the Red Banner of Labor, named after the 60th anniversary, the Great October Socialist Revolution, ADC was located on Satpayev Street, 90 between Turgut Ozal and Tlendiev streets in the Bostandyk (now Almaly) district.
One of the largest construction organizations in the republic. It was created in 1956, subordinate to Glavalmaatastro. It had 10 self-supporting construction repair departments (including 2 construction and installation conveyor departments), a plant for the production of reinforced concrete products with a capacity of 240,000 square meters of precast reinforced concrete per year, a plant for processing non-metallic materials, a motor depot, etc.
Every year, the Almaty House-Building Plant increased the pace of construction: in 1961, 58,278 square meters of housing were put into operation, in 1981 - 389,760, that is, 6.6 times more. In 1981, schools for 1,176 places and kindergartens for 3,360 were commissioned. 76.8% of the housing built in the capital in the 10th Five-Year Plan was built by ADC builders.
They took an active part in the development of Tashkent, Chardzhou, Taldy-Kurgan, Guryev, Turkestan, Tselinograd, Dzhambul, Karatau, Janatas, Kapchagay, and in 1965 in the construction of a house-building plant in the city of Santiago de Cuba.
For high performance in Socialist competitions, ADK was included in the book of Lenin's labor glory by the Ministry of Heavy Construction of the Kazakh SSR (1972). In 1975, the team was awarded the Commemorative Red Banner of the CPSU Central Committee, the Council of Ministers of the USSR, the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions and the Komsomol Central Committee, and in 1976 - the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
With the collapse of the Soviet Union, there were no markets for the products of the plant, which was focused on the production of reinforced concrete structures for standard house designs. In the 1990s, the plant was shut down, 10,000 people were left unemployed and ADC was sold into private hands.
With the end of state control and management, the production areas and buildings were sold. Today the largest city-forming enterprise is not operating, the equipment has been sold. In 2011, the ADK shopping and entertainment complex was opened on the site of the largest plant.
In 2015, construction of a residential complex began on the site of the remaining former production areas of the plant.
