Cotton in Kazakhstan.

The Alma-Ata cotton spinning factory was located on Dzerzhinsky Street, 17 (now Nauryzbay Batyr Street) in the Sovetsky district (now Almalinsky) in the city of Amata. The Alma-Ata cotton spinning factory of the USSR Ministry of Light Industry was founded in 1942.
In 1957 - 1975 the factory was reconstructed. It produced high-quality cotton yarn for knitting production and filter elements for agricultural machines. 525 units of technological equipment were installed in 5 improved workshops of the factory.
The plan for product sales in 1983 amounted to 21 million rubles. Compared to 1942, production output increased 20 times. The factory had: a club, a health center, a library (the book collection was about 18,000 units), a canteen, a dormitory for 1000 people, 3 kindergartens, a recreation area on the Kapshagai reservoir.
In the 1990s, the factory was privatized, removed from state ownership, transformed into a joint stock company and liquidated. The equipment, building and facilities of the enterprise have been sold.
