“If you follow the ancient maps written on the stars, no person will ever understand you. So if you could read these maps, would you follow them? And forever be misunderstood? Or would you close your eyes tightly and pretend to be like everyone else?”

A unique monument of medieval architecture of Southern Kazakhstan is the ensemble of the Kuyruktobe palace located in the Otrar district of Turkestan region. Kuyruktobe settlement is located in the Otrar oasis and is identified with the city of Keder.
The original composition of the palace complex of the Kuyruktobe citadel is a high fourteen-meter platform, which is crowned by the palace. Dating it VII - first half of IX century The view of the palace opened from any part of the city, and its massive fortress walls with a slight slope upward seemed impregnable.
The high-rise dominant of the entire ensemble was the front hall. The upper surface of the fortress walls served as a platform for warriors, and along the edge of the wall was laid a parapet, crowned with multi-stage merlons.
The nature of the construction techniques, the presence of the platform, the combined masonry of long adobe bricks and square blocks, the presence of box arches are similar to buildings in the early medieval cities of Shasha, Sogd, Ustrushany.
